More photography today — I’m still learning the new digital camera. I’m a fan of pictures with a really tight depth of field, meaning one thing in focus and most of the rest of the stuff blurred out. It was a hard effect to get on my previous camera in part because it didn’t allow as much control over the settings, and in part because I didn’t fully understand how the effects was accomplished.
So now I’ve learned that setting the camera to aperture-priority mode and then adjusting the aperture way up will, assuming your lighting is decent, provide that type of effect. This is not exactly rocket science; anyone who’s ever taken a basic photo class in high school is currently going “well DUH!” … but I never took a basic photography class! So it’s new and valuable information for me as I continue my quest to become a better photographer.
Here, now, is a picture of a cactus!
